The Hub launched the StoMap Programme in 2019 to better understand the stoma care market in the East of England, following the publication of the NHS Long Term Plan.
The NHS Long Term Plan was published in 2019, setting out the ambition to restructure how we deliver healthcare through a fully integrated, community-based system. With stoma care being identified as a key priority in the East of England, the Hub launched the StoMap Programme with the aim of supporting the national agenda through innovative procurement solutions and service redesign.
Phase one of the programme included surveys of ostomates and stoma nurses in the region, as well as extensive market and stakeholder engagement, to gain a fuller understanding of the stoma care landscape and challenges in the East of England. Phase one also included a conference, which focused on nine key themes:
- Formulary
- Pricing
- Products
- Medicines optimisation
- Process and patient pathways
- Service delivery
- Education
- Contracting
- Recruitment and retention
At the conclusion of phase one, the Hub published key findings in the StoMap Baseline Report.
