Framework focus: Wound Imaging

Wound imaging systems, devices and digital aids producing digital 2D or 3D images, are available to NHS trusts through our Wound Imaging framework.

Solutions available to trusts through our Wound Imaging framework could help to speed up diagnoses and subsequent treatments for patients.  They could assist in reducing waiting times too – a welcome help to patients and staff, particularly in areas experiencing longer waits such as dermatology.

Using innovative technology, the imaging systems, devices and digital aids offered via this framework from multiple suppliers, support the assessment and monitoring of all types of wounds.  Digital devices may provide 2D or 3D images with electronic medical record (EMR) software integration.  Some devices have thermal imaging.

Able to measure a wound’s width, length and depth, these solutions provide valuable data for health professionals like surgeons, dermatologists, nurses and specialists in wound care and vascular health as they track progress in patient healing.  The solutions are especially useful for assessing and monitoring conditions such as:

  • diabetic foot ulcers
  • leg ulcers
  • pressure ulcers
  • skin lesions
  • injuries
  • burns.
